Demons will obey you, be bold!

EVERY believer can cast out demons, we’re called to fight and win in this battle.

Mark 16:17. “And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues.”

All believers are called out as full time deliverance ministers to pray and  cast out of demons, setting free God’s people from demonic strongholds.

Deliverance is simply commanding an evil spirit that has entered my mind, emotions, will or body “to leave me” or another person, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Demons are the believers’ real unseen enemies who spread snares and traps to defile, ruin and shame God’s children.

They are like parasites that are attracted to a condition.

Mathew 24:28. “Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.”

Demons love it where there is a curse.

For example, if there is a curse in a family brought by sin, demons will want to continue to keep the family in bondage until the curse is broken through repentance of the sin that mase it come in the first place back to four generations from both sides of the family and the demons commanded to leave.

We are engaged in a constant battle with demonic entities whether we realise it or not!

Ephesians 6:10 “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

Evil spirits desire to manifest their nature through human beings.

They act out who or what they are by using the person’s mind, emotions, will and body.

When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it.” Mathew 12:43.

Whenever the impure spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.” Mark 3:11.

At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind. Luke 7:21.

Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, “In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out. Acts 19:13.

Evil spirits do not automatically leave when we become believers.

Demonic strongholds

If we are candid with ourselves, we will accept that there are some areas or strongholds that we have struggled with even after we became saved.

Such demonic strongholds keep us from being fully submitted to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and being effective in His Kingdom.

If a believer notices that they are struggling with constant sin habits or even unhealthy mindsets, there is need for deliverance in that given area.

It is an area not under the control of the Holy Spirit, but an evil spirit, often they are areas not fully surrendered to the Lord!

Lying, greed, unforgiveness, lack of self control can become open doors that give the devil a stronghold.

Evil Spirits guard these strongholds, viciously, from outside.

Ephesians 4:27 tells us, “and do not give the devil a foothold.”

Living with evil spirits

Churches today are full of believers who are living with evil spirits in the “Outer court”(body-oppressed from outside by spirits of infirmity) and from the “Inner court” ( the soul- mind, will and emotions).

Neither, they, nor the people around them are aware that the reason why they are not able to live victoriously is because they have these invisible barriers.

Pray today, and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you an area in your life where you may need deliverance, so you may live a victorious life in Christ.

When demons are present in a persons life, their manifestation is seen in the undesirable and destructive habit which will continue until such a time that they are commanded to leave in the name of Jesus Christ.

To know how to drive them out, we must first understand how demons enter humans and where they reside once they are in.

We first appreciate the human being  is divided into three parts- Spirit, Soul and Body.

1 Thessalonians 5:23. “May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

In 1 Corinthians 3:16 we are told we are “God’s temple and the Holy Spirit lives in us.”

Evil Spirits in a person

Paul was referring to the physical temple in Jerusalem which had an Outer court, Inner Court and the Holy of Holies.

We are like the temple and are also divided into three parts- Body (Outer Court), Soul (Inner Court) and Spirit (Holy of Holies).

When we accept Christ as Lord and Saviour the Holy Spirit comes to reside in our Spirit.

Many people misunderstand 2 Corinthians 5:17. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here.” They have assumed that every part becomes a new creation, however, the change only comes in the Spirit.

The final and ultimate battle is between Flesh –our old sinful nature – and our new Spirit-led nature, the new creation.

Satan would tempt us to be led by our emotions for example anger, hate, bitterness, a foul-mouth and so on.

The evil spirits in a person reside in the soul and the body.

They cannot cannot reside in the spirit where the Holy Spirit lives in a believer.

Wall of protection

For an evil spirit to enter, something has to happen.

Ecclesiastes 10:8 tells us, “Whoever digs a pit may fall into it; whoever breaks through a wall may be bitten by a snake.”

Demons enter the soul or body when our protective wall breaks and the snake or Satan bites and deposits poison.

The poison is the evil spirit that he sends in when the wall breaks.

Job’s story in the book of Job 1:10, Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land,” is telling  us that Satan cannot just attack a person however and whenever he wants but must look for an entrance or a breach on our protective wall.

As long us Job was within the perimeter wall of God’s protection, no harm could come to him. His property, workers and children were all in God’s circle of protection.

The only time Satan was able to attack Job was when God lifted “the hedge of protection.”

A principle that we can get from the story of Job is that as long as God’s protection is over us, Satan cannot touch our lives.

It is then of key interest to know what can compromise this wall, break it and give the enemy a chance to send demons into our lives.

If we know how to keep the wall from breaching then we will also keep evil spirits from attacking us.

These four things will cause your wall to break and give Satan a “foothold”;

Ezekiel 22:30 I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.

We find a situation where God is looking for one to build up the wall.

Someone to stand up in the gap on behalf of the land (community, family or the individual) so that He does not have to destroy it, but why is the wall broken?

The answer is in  Ezekiel 22:1-29.

The word of the Lord came to me:

“Son of man, will you judge her? Will you judge this city of bloodshed? Then confront her with all her detestable practices  and say: ‘

This is what the Sovereign Lord says: You city that brings on herself doom by shedding blood in her midst and defiles herself by making idols, you have become guilty because of the blood you have shed and have become defiled by the idols you have made.

You have brought your days to a close, and the end of your years has come.

Therefore I will make you an object of scorn to the nations and a laughingstock to all the countries.  Those who are near and those who are far away will mock you, you infamous city, full of turmoil.

“‘See how each of the princes of Israel who are in you uses his power to shed blood. In you they have treated father and mother with contempt; in you they have oppressed the foreigner and mistreated the fatherless and the widow.

You have despised my holy things and desecrated my Sabbaths. In you are slanderers who are bent on shedding blood; in you are those who eat at the mountain shrines and commit lewd acts.

In you are those who dishonor their father’s bed; in you are those who violate women during their period, when they are ceremonially unclean.

In you one man commits a detestable offense with his neighbor’s wife, another shamefully defiles his daughter-in-law, and another violates his sister, his own father’s daughter.

In you are people who accept bribes to shed blood; you take interest and make a profit from the poor.

You extort unjust gain from your neighbors. And you have forgotten me, declares the Sovereign Lord.

“‘I will surely strike my hands together at the unjust gain you have made and at the blood you have shed in your midst.

Will your courage endure or your hands be strong in the day I deal with you? I the Lord have spoken, and I will do it.  I will disperse you among the nations and scatter you through the countries; and I will put an end to your uncleanness.

When you have been defiled in the eyes of the nations, you will know that I am the Lord.”

Then the word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, the people of Israel have become dross to me; all of them are the copper, tin, iron and lead left inside a furnace. They are but the dross of silver.

Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: ‘Because you have all become dross, I will gather you into Jerusalem.

As silver, copper, iron, lead and tin are gathered into a furnace to be melted with a fiery blast, so will I gather you in my anger and my wrath and put you inside the city and melt you.

I will gather you and I will blow on you with my fiery wrath, and you will be melted inside her.  As silver is melted in a furnace, so you will be melted inside her, and you will know that I the Lord have poured out my wrath on you.’”

Again the word of the Lord came to me:  “Son of man, say to the land, ‘You are a land that has not been cleansed or rained on in the day of wrath.’

There is a conspiracy of her princes within her like a roaring lion tearing its prey; they devour people, take treasures and precious things and make many widows within her.

Her priests do violence to my law and profane my holy things; they do not distinguish between the holy and the common; they teach that there is no difference between the unclean and the clean; and they shut their eyes to the keeping of my Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them.

Her officials within her are like wolves tearing their prey; they shed blood and kill people to make unjust gain. Her prophets whitewash these deeds for them by false visions and lying divinations.

They say, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says’—when the Lord has not spoken.  The people of the land practice extortion and commit robbery; they oppress the poor and needy and mistreat the foreigner, denying them justice.

The principle here is that sin breaks the wall!

Anytime we sin, our wall breaks and we give Satan an easy doorway through which to attack us.

Lack of self control

In which area would you say you struggle the most with self control?

There are many areas a person can struggle with self control; Eating, talking, sleeping, alcoholism, sex, anger, worry, jealousy and so on.

Lack of self control is the inability to take charge, lacking balance, inability to flee temptation or powerless, weak will.

Proverbs 28:25. “Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.”

If the Bible warns us against lack of self control, then it is a sin.

Satan will use lack of self control to send demons to attack us.

Trauma is described as a deeply digressing event or physical injury followed by emotional shock which leads to long term nervousness.

Trauma symptoms include stress, depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive behaviour.

It can be caused by a divorce , an accident, loss of a parent at an early age, loss of a job, domestic violence, rejection, relocation to a new place, deep betrayal, incurable diseases, physical and sexual abuse.

While trauma in itself is not an evil spirit, it opens the door for evil spirits to enter.

A traumatised person will struggle with issues of self-control.

As you help members of your family, find out if they have undergone any traumatic event in their past life.

There could be a major doorway that demons used as an entry point through that traumatic event.

It is said the apple does not fall too far from the tree!

Inheritance plays an important role in opening spiritual doors through genetic transfer from one’s ancestors that  must deal with  through deliverance  to be victorious in their Christian walk.

Sometimes people may be born with walls that are already broken.

They are prone to act in line with the punishment that has already been passed down from their parents, grand-parents or great grand-parents.

Cast out demons

We have seen that there are many things that can break the wall, some within our control, others not.

We are not victims but we are well equipped, through the Holy Spirit, to deal with it.

Are there special words God expects us to use as believers to cast out demons?

Acts 16:18. She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so annoyed that he turned around and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!”

At that moment the spirit left her.

In the scripture above, Paul spoke to the spirit not the girl. He commanded the spirit to come out in the name of Jesus.

The evil spirit  obeyed Paul because of what Jesus had already done on the cross.

Luke 10:19
I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.

1 John 4:4

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

Evil spirits will obey you because as a believer you have, through Christ, the authority to overcome all power of the enemy, the one who is in you is greater-He overcame the world!

Colossians 2:15. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

We should not be fearful or doubt because according to Verse 19 of Luke 10, we have been given authority to “overcome all power of the enemy” and we have “authority in the name of Jesus.”

We are “empowered” as well by the Holy Spirit.

The Bible says the battle belongs to the Lord and He already won it!

Demons operate in groups

It is important to know that evil spirits  do not work alone.

Demons operate in groups with a captain or controlling spirit called the strongman who leads the others.

Normally, it is the strongman who is in command and in charge of the lesser spirits who manifest the undesirable habit.

Mark 3:27. In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man’s house.

First bind the strongman, then cast out the subordinate spirits under him to leave.

For example a strongman spirit of  Rejection will work with lesser spirits of Despair, Discouragement, Depression, Suicide, Unworthiness, Self condemnation, Low self-esteem and the like.

Remember, a spirit can be a strongman in one instance and a lesser spirit in another.

Authority of the believer

You have the donated authority of the believer, therefore do not be timid! Be Bold!

It us to do things to these demons and not them to us. They can do us “no harm.”

Know yourself!

Christ has fully equipped you for this spiritual battle to cast out demons in His name.

It is for you to align yourself practically and actively in the ministry of deliverance.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5. For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.  The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.

On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Our weapons have divine power to demolish all demonic strongholds of the enemy.

When we know the authority we have over the devil, it helps us know how to deal with his demons.

Some of  Satan’s tested weapons against those who seek holiness and to be set free from demonic strongholds is to send oppressing thoughts into their minds.

Be careful the images and thoughts Satan would want to sow in your heart .

Take captive every thought that arises in opposition to the truth of God’s word.

Hierarchy of evil

Satan has a hierarchy of evil which is structured in a way that he will try to have control of what goes on under a specific sphere of influence.

He has divided his evil kingdom into a hierarchy and controls his demons much the same way an army commander will control his troops.

There are those over kingdoms and there are those that inhibit and torment people.

A believer is out of  his authority and control according to  Colossians 1:13 “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,”

The only way he can influence us is in the area of our minds is we allow him.

Demons will oppose people from searching and finding the truth of God’s word.

They will not only tempt non-Christians, but also hinder God’s people from growing spiritually even after committing their lives to Christ.

We are all plagued by a demonic spirit constantly looking for ways to weaken and destroy the testimony of the believer by sowing destructive thoughts which if allowed to germinate, and grow will become attitudes and habits designed to enslave people and bring them under the bondage of the devil and his demons.

“Be strong in the power of God’s might,” not your own.

Pray through every opportunity for your deliverance and growth in Christ.

Two things the Bible says about Satan

There are three reasons the Bible says, about Satan and his demons, and why they will obey you as you boldly command them to leave a stronghold in your life or in the life of a loved one.

1.We fight a defeated foe

Adam and Eve handed over the authority God gave them to dominate the earth.

Genesis 1:26,28. Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.

God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.

Luke 4:5-7. The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world.  And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to.  If you worship me, it will all be yours.

After Jesus ‘death and resurrection, authority was passed on to Him. Colossians 2:15. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

Evil spirits hate this truth. Read it loud to them, reminding them of their future!

Jesus defeated Satan through His death on the cross.

He stripped him of the armour that he prided in and made a shameful show of him when He rose again-Hallelujah!

Jesus told His disciples that all authority, on heaven and on earth, has been given to Him. He took back this authority for the church.

2. Satan power is limited

Satan’s not omnipotent, neither is he omnipresent.

Unlike God, who is everywhere every time, Satan is not.

He is not the one who directly attacks us. He depends on the multitude of evil spirits and fallen angels to torment, oppress and inhabit people.

There is nothing Satan can do on earth without getting that authority from man.

Once Jesus took authority back from Satan and gave it back to His church, Satan resorted to a different ball-game.

Knowing that man had been given authority over him through the death of Jesus on the cross, he now looks for people whose authority he can use.

He woos human beings with worldly things in exchange for their soul(emotions, will and mind).

And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?” Mathew 16:26.

Satan has limited power compared to God.

Demons can suggest evil, but cannot coerce the human will. Satan needs you to consent!

Satan cannot forcefully use human will, he can only tempt them to hand over the control to him by making covenant with him.

There has to be a breach in the wall, a n open door for Satan to come in with his demons.

He knows that God is a covenanting God and will not interfere with a covenant that a human being has made with him.

God has given us the freewill to choose our actions, beliefs and attitudes.
