Invisible barriers always blocking us

WE could be fighting things we do not understand that present themselves as invisible barriers!

They present a pattern of a curse in a family where you may find all the sons of three brothers dropped out of school or all the sisters in a family suffer from a similar inherited ailment.

A family under a curse shows certain fruits that someone in the bloodline practiced idolatry.

The horrendous thing about idolatry is that future generations who had no part to play in the blatant sin are also affected.

Many things we are doing today, good or bad, will affect future generations. That is why we should take heed when God warns us in verses like;

Isaiah 8:19When someone tells you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living.”And, Jeremiah 25:6-7

“Do not go after other gods to serve them and worship them, and do not provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands; and I will not harm you.’

Yet you have not listened to Me,” says the Lord, “that you might provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt.”

When you warn somebody not to do something and even go further and tell them of the consequences of their disobedience, they only have themselves to blame if they are punished.

Some problems we experience in life today are because of what our ancestors did in the past.

They prayed to something else, carried charms and fetishes, carried out crimes against others, killed the innocent, stole from their neighbours (indeed, one community in Kenya is known for cattle rustling which runs in the bloodline).

Our ancestors cursed others, solicited for help from witchdoctors and fortune tellers, were members of occultic societies and were rebellious and disobedient in the eyes of God.

Invisible barriers

The present-day fruits of sickness, barrenness, miscarriages, early death, poverty or character flaws betray the seeds that our forefathers planted.

They visited witchdoctors and offered sacrifices to other gods! They made vows to demon gods! They sacrificed us!

We could be fighting something we do not understand but it presents itself as an invisible barrier always blocking us from wholesomeness and success.

Lamentations 5:7-8.  “Our fathers sinned and are no more but we bear their punishment, slaves rule over us and there is none to free us from their hands.”

We need to disconnect from the curses in our bloodline, that block us as invisible barriers and cause us to live miserable lives.

Curses come from God as punishment for the sin of idolatry.

The sin of idolatry is so terrible that even our own children, who may have not played a role in it, are not spared but bare the guilt.

Deuteronomy 18 :10  tells us what idolatry is. “Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft.

Or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord; because of these same detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you.

God tells us never to do these things- never to sacrifice our children (to Satan), not to visit witchdoctors, diviners, fortune-tellers or share in interpreting omens, engaging in sorcery, charms, spells and necromancy.

Bloodline curses

If you worship another God, you condemn four generations in your bloodline to curses.

Exodus 20:3-6 . You shall have no other gods before me, you shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.

You Shall not bow down to them or worship them for I the lord your God am a  jealous God punishing the children for the sins of the forefathers to the thirds and fourth generation of those who hate me but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commands.

Early death

One of the invisible barriers in the families of those who worship other gods, is early death.

Exodus 23: 25Worship the Lord your God and His blessing will be upon your food and water, I will take away sickness from among you and no one will miscarry or be barren in your land, I will give you a full life span.”

Unless that curse is broken, the family continues to live in cycles of mystery from one generation to the next.

When Aaron’s sons, Nadab and Abihu, died from the fire that came out of the altar , a curse of premature death was already in operation in their lives because their father had worshipped another god.

Aaron answered them, “Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me.”

So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron.  He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, “These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt. Exodus 32: 2-4.

When a curse of premature death is operating your life it will make you  do things that will cause you to die early.

Coming generations

The things we do now, good or evil, will affect coming generations. When I sin , I do not sin alone.

Many character traits, both good and bad, can be traced back four to five generations of our family bloodlines.

Just as our children inherit physical features from us parents,  so do they, the spiritual.

Our children may inherit the invisible barriers that contended with in our own lives included  generational diseases like Diabetes, High blood pressure, Cancer.

Indeed, doctors know the influence of generational curses and when profiling a patient, will always ask about the family history to know the likelihood of the presence of a genetic disease that may be the cause of the present condition.

Root in inheritance

Isaac faced invisible barriers like his father, Abraham.

Both men faced a famine and were forced to go to other places where they also lied to avoid being victimised by their hosts.

Abraham was also opposed by the Philistines when he dug up wells, so was his son Isaac.

The struggle you may be going through may have its root in inheritance and has passed through the generations.

Genesis 12: 10-13.

Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to live there for a while because the famine was severe.

As he was about to enter Egypt, he said to his wife Sarai, “I know what a beautiful woman you are.  When the Egyptians see you, they will say, ‘This is his wife.’ Then they will kill me but will let you live.

Say you are my sister, so that I will be treated well for your sake and my life will be spared because of you .”

Genesis 26:7 When the men of the place asked questions about his wife, he answered, “She is my sister.”

He was afraid that, if he called her his wife, the men of the place would kill him on account of Rebekah, since she was beautiful

A lying spirit manifested much later and stronger in Jacob.

The curse of lying seems to have been “scattered” and “dispersed” in Terah’s family, the grandfather of Isaac.

Isaac also took long before Jacob was born.

God warned the Israelites that one of the sins that would cause curses to go down four generations was the worship of other gods.

Legal right

The sin of idolatry can cause doorways of destruction that enable Satan and his demons to have a legal right to harass our lives.

It means, if  I worship another god or raise an idol, I do not sin alone but I am sinning with my generation.

Because when Melchizedek met Abraham, Levi was still in the body of his ancestor.” Hebrews 7-10.”

Involvement in Idolatry

When we sin we do not sin alone but we sin with entire generations who are even yet to be born.

They are later born with walls that are already compromised and are blocked by invisible barriers no matter how much they try to escape.

Tormented by curses

Worship of anything which is not God is idolatry.

Our involvement in idolatry can open doors for our children to be tormented by curses later on in their lives.

Deuteronomy 5:9. “You shall not bow down to them or worship them; For I the Lord your God am a jealous God punishing the children for the sins of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me.”

Deuteronomy 7:9-12. “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.

But those who hate him he will repay to their face by destruction; he will not be slow to repay to their face those who hate him.

Therefore, take care to follow the commands, decrees and laws I give you today. If you pay attention to these laws and are careful to follow them, then the Lord your God will keep his covenant of love with you, as he swore to your ancestors.

A generational curse of destruction has operated among the Jews when they cursed themselves and their children.

When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd.

“I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “It is your responsibility!” All the people answered, “His blood is on us and on our children!” Mathew 27:24-25.

Ancestors sacrificed us

Our ancestors sacrificed us, they committed us to generational captivity and entrapment to invisible barriers by entering into agreements with the devil.

Generational curses will normally affect more than one generation, and they come as a result of idolatry within a family bloodline.

We will notice calamities that touch four generations or more. It will be common to see a sickness or a disease that has affected a woman, her mother and her grandmother.

We might even see unemployment touching all the children of three brothers.

Abject poverty may be prevalent in many of the families in four generations. Children may drop out of school in all the families that have a common grandfather, or great grandfather.

We may notice a family where all the men die of Cancer before they reach the age of 50, or where family members are involved in one car accident after another.

Divorce, separation and family breakdown is  a common example in  a family where a curse is in operation.

Fourth generation

Curses come from God because of rebellion.

What are some of the problems you have because of your descent, what patterns present themselves as invisible barriers to your own and extended family?

Families are  today oppressed with fruits of failure, stagnation, illegitimacy, sicknesses that neither spare the believer nor the unbeliever.

They  are the fruits of Idolatry from our predecessors. They worshipped other gods!

Leviticus 26:1 “Do not make idols or set up an image or a sacred stone for yourselves, and do not place a carved stone in your land to bow.”

Deuteronomy 7:25-26The images of their gods you are to burn in the fire. Do not covet the silver and gold on them, and do not take it for yourselves, or you will be ensnared by it, for it is detestable to the Lord your God.

Do not bring a detestable thing into your house or you, like it, will be set apart for destruction. Regard it as vile and utterly detest it, for it is set apart for destruction.

We are guilty today for the sins of our fathers.

It can stop today if you find out what it is and repent.

Prayer and fasting does not break a curse only repentance.

Exodus 34:7 maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin.

Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.

Jeremiah 32:18You show love to thousands, but bring the punishment for the parents’ sins into the laps of their children after them. Great and mighty God, whose name is the Lord Almighty.

Generational roots

There could be unpleasant things going on in our lives whose origins are from three or four generations back.

Calamities that stick however, much we try to escape, may have generational roots.

The one important thing that may have been overlooked is a secret sin or wrong doing from an ancestor that brought a curse and still gives evil spirits a right to carry out the destructive cycles in the family bloodline.

Praise God that in His love and unmatched wisdom, He has provided a way out of the curses inherited from our fathers.

Freedom from curses along with other benefits of the kingdom are the right of inheritance of those who believe in Jesus and are co-heirs in the kingdom of God.

It is important for us to understand a how the doorway of inherited generational curses opens and gives Satan a legal right to harass us.

It is equally important to know how God has solved this problem for us and to appropriate the blessings for curses. Galatians 3:13. “ Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.”

Jesus became a curse for us. He died for salvation from sin and deliverance from the curse. Salvation comes first-to take away sin.

Deliverance then follows to set us free to walk in victory.

Both are received by faith.
