Does God Want His Children to Prosper?
MONEY spent on evil altars or sown in bad soil can create invisible barriers that block financial breakthroughs and success.
It is God’s will to prosper His children. When God created silver and gold, He created them for His people—not for Satan. Scripture consistently shows that when God called individuals, He also entrusted them with provision and wealth. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, King David, and King Solomon are clear examples. God has no issue with prosperity.
God is a generous Father who desires abundance in the lives of His children. This raises an important question: Why are so many believers struggling with lack and poverty?
Could the issue be hidden blockages—such as sowing in bad soil or involvement with cursed altars?
The Principle of Seed and Soil
Jesus clearly taught that the condition of the soil determines the harvest:
“A farmer went out to sow his seed… Some fell along the path… some on rocky places… some among thorns… Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop—some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times.” – Mark 4:3–8
A seed sown in bad soil will not bear fruit. In the same way, money spent on evil altars, sinful systems, or ungodly purposes can bring financial curses rather than blessing.
Common Spiritual Barriers to Financial Breakthroughs
Below are common biblical causes of invisible financial barriers. Examine them prayerfully and honestly.
1. Idolatry
Idolatry is deceptive and destructive. Worshipping other gods always creates a spiritual barrier that blocks God’s blessings.
“We will burn incense to the Queen of Heaven… At that time we had plenty… But ever since we stopped… we have had nothing.” – Jeremiah 44:15–18
Although people may associate idols with past prosperity, Scripture reveals that idolatry ultimately releases curses—including poverty and hardship. God’s blessings are conditional upon obedience.
“If you fully obey the Lord your God… all these blessings will come on you.” – Deuteronomy 28:1–2
Idolatry can affect generations. The Bible warns that the consequences of idolatry can impact up to four generations, creating patterns of financial struggle within families.
2. Stealing
Stealing brings a severe curse upon a household.
“This is the curse… it will enter the house of the thief and destroy it completely.” – Zechariah 5:3–4
Even small acts of theft open doors to financial destruction. Items taken unjustly should be returned. Repentance restores blessing.
“Do not trust in stolen goods.” – Psalm 62:10
3. Dishonest Money
God hates dishonest gain.
“The Lord detests dishonest scales.” – Proverbs 11:1
“Dishonest money dwindles away.” – Proverbs 13:11
Money obtained through fraud, corruption, immorality, or deception brings curses—not increase.
4. Withholding Wages
Failing to pay workers their rightful wages cries out to God.
“The wages you failed to pay… are crying out against you.” – James 5:4
God defends the oppressed. Employers who exploit workers invite divine judgment into their finances.
5. Unpaid Debts
Borrowing carries responsibility.
“Let no debt remain outstanding.” – Romans 13:8
“The wicked borrow and do not repay.” – Psalm 37:21
Failure to honor debts opens financial barriers and damages integrity.
6. Trusting in Man Instead of God
Placing trust in people rather than God invites curse rather than blessing.
“Cursed is the one who trusts in man.” – Jeremiah 17:5
Human systems fail. God alone is our source.
7. Dishonoring God
When God is dishonored, blessings are affected.
“I will curse your blessings.” – Malachi 2:2
God must be honored above material things, ambitions, and relationships.
8. Dishonoring Parents
Honoring parents carries a promise of well-being.
“Honor your father and mother… that it may go well with you.” – Deuteronomy 5:16
Neglect and disrespect toward parents can block long-term blessing.
9. Sowing in Bad Soil
A seed will only multiply when planted in good soil.
“Still other seed fell on good soil… producing a hundredfold.” – Mark 4:8
Money given to witchcraft, false prophets, ungodly projects, or sinful causes will not bring harvest. Giving grudgingly or outside God’s instruction also blocks blessing.
We reap only when we sow obediently, cheerfully, and wisely—into God-ordained soil.
Walking in Financial Freedom
God desires His children to prosper, but prosperity flows through obedience, honor, integrity, and righteous sowing. Remove every spiritual blockage. Repent where necessary. Align your finances with God’s Word.
When you sow into good soil, blessing is inevitable.
