“WHO is this King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord, mighty in battle... The Lord of Armies, he is the King of glory.” Psalms 24:8-10
Lord of Armies, we exalt You.You are mighty in battle, unmatched in power and glorious in Holiness. Heaven and Earth obey your command. We honour you as our commander, defender and King.
When I was a child, I sang in Sunday school about being "a soldier in the army of the Lord." I sang it from the bottom of my heart without fully grasping the weight of those words. But as as adult now, and knowing what I now know, as we step into 2026, those lyrics take on a profound meaning.
In an army battalion, there is a hierarchy of power. As we grow, we must ask: What is our position in His army? Who are you meant to be this year? What is your Divine purpose?
The Commander-in-Chief: Understanding the King of Glory
We lift our eyes to the One who commands heaven and earth. The Lord of Armies is never defeated, confused, or overwhelmed. He reigns with absolute authority, order, and power.
-
His Authority: Nations fall under His command, and victories are secured by His word.
-
His Holiness: As Isaiah 6:3 reminds us, “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is filled with His glory.”
-
His Leadership: He sets the mission and demands obedience, not negotiation (1 Samuel 15:22).
The Divine Hierarchy: What is Your Rank?
To fulfill your Jeremiah 29:11 purpose—plans for peace and a future—you must understand the structure of the Kingdom army.
God: The King of Kings
He is the ultimate Commander. Like Joshua, we must throw ourselves on the ground in worship and ask, “What do you want me to do?” (Joshua 5:14-15).
Officers: Founders, CEOs, and Leaders
These are the Pastors and Ministry Leaders who carry delegated authority. They are responsible for guidance and discipline, watching over souls as those who must give an account (Hebrews 13:17).
Soldiers: The Strength of the Church
This includes Church Goers, Elders, Intercessors, and Prayer Warriors. Each role is vital; some are called to lead, others to follow, but all are called to faithfulness.
The 4 Essential Duties of a Soldier in Christ
To be "enlisted afresh" for the spiritual battles of 2026, we must commit to these four military mandates:
1. Absolute Obedience
A soldier does not question orders in the heat of battle. John 14:15 tells us: “If you love me, you will obey my commandments.”
2. Rigorous Discipline
Soldiers train daily. We stay in top condition by praying, fasting, and reading the Bible. There is no room for "lazy living" if we want to reach the finish line 1 Corinthians 9:27.
3. Constant Readiness
We are up against more than we can handle alone. We must take every weapon God has issued—truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation—and learn how to apply them Ephesians 6:13-18.
4. Unbreakable Unity
Soldiers fight as one unit. Psalms 133:1-2 reminds us how "good and pleasant" it is when God’s people live in unity. Division is the enemy’s greatest tool; unity is our greatest strength.
A Prayer of Enlistment and Supplication
Lord of Armies, enlist us afresh. Teach us to lead by example, to follow with humility, and to stand firm in battle. Clothe us with Your armor and align us with Your will. Strengthen our minds and bodies as we fast during these coming days.
May we walk in Your plans for 2026. May we be aligned with Your priorities so that we may walk through the right doors. Thank You for preparing a table in the presence of our enemies. We claim victory in the mighty name of Jesus. AMEN.
