PRAISE God for His Sovereign Plan and Salvation
“Shout for joy to the Lord… For the Lord is good and His love endures forever.” (Psalm 100)
We praise God for His goodness and enduring love toward us. His sovereign plan governs the lives of all people across the world. Nothing happens outside His knowledge or authority. Even when we do not understand His ways, He is working all things according to His divine purpose to defeat the enemy and accomplish His redemptive plan.
We thank God for guiding us to the path of salvation—by grace through faith, not by works. Salvation is not earned. It is the redemption of sinners through Jesus Christ.
We are saved by grace. We are sustained by grace. We are transformed by grace.
OUR HABITS: The Hidden Architects of Our Character
A habit is a recurring pattern of behavior acquired through repetition. What begins as a simple action becomes behavior. Behavior becomes habit. Habits build character. Character defines us.
Habits shape our daily lives and can determine our future when we continually replay them.
Some habits strengthen our spiritual growth. Others quietly oppose God’s plan.
Pause and reflect:
What do you habitually do without thinking?
How do those habits affect you—and the people around you?
Harmful Habits That Hinder Spiritual Growth
1. Living in the Past
Reliving past wounds keeps us stuck spiritually and emotionally.
Living in the past:
-
Breeds unforgiveness
-
Kills dreams
-
Creates bitterness
-
Diverts attention from present opportunities
-
Blocks spiritual growth
The enemy wants believers trapped in yesterday.
But Scripture reminds us:
Isaiah 43:18–19
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!”
We are new creations in Christ. Our scars should be marks of liberation—not reminders of loss.
1 John 4:4 declares that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world.
2. Fear
Fear is not from God.
2 Timothy 1:7
“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”
Fear:
-
Robs us of faith
-
Diminishes confidence
-
Steals peace and joy
-
Paralyzes action
-
Blinds us to God’s purpose
Isaiah 41:10 reminds us:
“Do not fear, for I am with you…”
God equips us to overcome fear. When we stand on His promises, we are conquerors.
3. Complaining
Complaining changes nothing—but damages much.
Philippians 2:14–16 says:
“Do everything without grumbling or arguing…”
Complaining:
-
Blocks gratitude
-
Breeds dissatisfaction
-
Divides relationships
-
Creates cynicism
-
Steals joy
1 Thessalonians 5:16–18 urges us to rejoice always and give thanks in all circumstances.
Gratitude invites peace. Complaining invites heaviness.
4. Comparison
When we compare ourselves to others, we question God’s design.
Psalm 139:14
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
Comparison:
-
Produces insecurity
-
Steals joy
-
Fuels jealousy
-
Blocks purpose
-
Encourages living beyond our means
God created you uniquely. Embrace who He made you to be.
5. Procrastination – The Thief of Time
Delaying what God calls us to do keeps us stagnant.
2 Corinthians 6:2
“Now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.”
Procrastination:
-
Leads to inaction
-
Creates irresponsibility
-
Delays blessings
-
Assumes unlimited time
Today is the day to act.
6. Judging Others
Romans 2:1 warns against passing judgment.
John 8:7 reminds us:
“Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone.”
Judgment:
-
Creates pride
-
Rushes conclusions
-
Damages relationships
-
Blinds us to our own faults
7. Criticism
Ephesians 4:29 instructs us to speak words that build up.
Criticism:
-
Generates negativity
-
Strains relationships
-
Destroys encouragement
-
Hardens the heart
Our words should give grace to those who hear.
CONFESSION: The Path to Freedom
Overcoming sinful habits requires intentional surrender.
Prayer Points for Confession:
-
Acknowledge and Confess – Admit specific habits and incidents.
-
Surrender Control – Ask for God’s power and the Holy Spirit’s guidance.
-
Renounce – Reject harmful habits in Jesus’ name.
-
Seek Accountability – Invite support and celebrate small progress.
Ask yourself:
What habits have others pointed out that I have resisted changing?
Bring them before God.
Thanksgiving for God’s Enduring Love
Psalm 103 and Psalm 136 remind us:
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever.”
Thank God for:
-
His patience
-
Renewing our minds
-
Rescuing us from destructive habits
-
Spiritual empowerment
-
Breaking generational patterns
-
Ministries that provide guidance
-
The gift of salvation
God loves us—but He desires transformation.

Love
2 Peter 1:5–11 teaches that growing in these qualities keeps us effective and productive in Christ.
