God is an Author who has written many books, but the most significant book He wrote concerns His Son, Jesus Christ.
“Therefore when Christ came into the world, he said,… 'As is written of me in the scroll, Behold, I come to do your will, O God.’”
(Hebrews 10:5,7)
Jesus came to fulfill what was already written about Him in this divine book. He could do nothing outside His book of destiny.
Even the Old Testament prophets did not fully understand that they were prophesying about Jesus. They were given a “sneak preview” of what God had already written in His eternal plan.
Jesus’ Book Was Written Before the World Began
I believe that God wrote Jesus’ book at the foundation of the world. Revelation 13:8 describes Him as:
“…The Lamb that was slain from the foundation of the world.”
If Jesus was destined to be slain from the foundation of the world, then His book of destiny had already been written, including His crucifixion.
Psalm 139:16 confirms:
“…All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”
Even Jesus’ birth was foretold:
-
Isaiah 7:14: “…The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”
-
Micah 5:2: Prophesied the exact town of His birth—Bethlehem.
His crucifixion was foretold in Psalm 22:15-18, where David described in detail what would happen to Him.
Your Book Was Written Too
Just as God wrote a book about Jesus, He has written a book about you—your destiny, purpose, and calling.
Sometimes, God reveals what He has written in our book through prophecy. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us:
“For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. Plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
These plans are already written in your book. Everything in your book aligns with the Word of God. The difference between books is our area of calling.
Jeremiah 1:5 says:
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
Isaiah 49:1 adds:
“…Before I was born the Lord called me; from my birth He made mention of my name.”
Ask God: What have You set me apart for? Who have You appointed me to be?
