HOW is it that a Christian can still experience defeat in a certain area?
It can make you feel like God is not answering your prayers!
The bible promises victory, however many Christians do not walk in this victory, as it were.
We see Christians who struggle despite the promise in 2 Corinthians 8:9, “For you the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that through his poverty you may become rich.”(NIV).
Many more struggle with illnesses and addictions despite the promises of healing and deliverance.
“It is like the biblical Moses, who was a holy man of God, but did not accomplish his purposes,” says pastor Nellie.
His purpose was to take the children of Israel from Egypt to Canaan but failed to do so as he had a spirit of anger.
“When you have prayed, fasted, and done everything you know how to do right, but no matter what you do, nothing is changing there is a cause as to where the problem is coming from,” pastor Nellie explains.
Moses’ anger, she explained was in his blood-line. Genesis 49:5-7 “ Simeon and Levi are brothers-their swords are weapons of violence. Let me not enter their council, let me not join their assembly, for they have killed men in their anger and hamstrung oxen as they pleased. Cursed be their anger, so fierce and their fury so cruel! I will scatter them in Jacob and disperse them in Israel. ” (NIV).
Difficult to change
This means the anger problem, was in the bloodline. It meant the people in the blood line are people who kill when they are angry.
“Levi’s father cursed him and the curse went down the generation and later on we find Moses bearing this curse of Levi,” pastor Nellie said.
What are the things that could be touching your life that come from the great-grand parents, and you find it difficult to change (that character)?
It is the reason why we see a Christian who loves the Lord, is prayerful, preaching the word, but has a generational problem that presents an invisible barrier through the bloodline that he or she has to deal with so that they may walk in freedom.
They can be upright in the eyes of God, blameless like Zachariah and Elizabeth in Luke 1 :5 “In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah, of the division of Abijah; and he had a wife of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless,” but still have a problem, says pastor Nellie.
Prayers may not change the situation because it is a curse.
Sicknesses, barrenness and miscarriage can be found in a blood line, according to Exodus 23:25 “And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and He shall bless thy bread and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.” (NIV).
“They come into families as curses because of serving other gods,” pastor Nellie says.
Genuinely serving God
Regarding Zachariah and Elizabeth in Luke 1:7 the bible says, “But they were childless because Elizabeth was not able to conceive and they were both very old.” (NIV).
“We see a woman ánd her husband who are genuinely serving God but she was but barren because she was from Aaron’s bloodline, her great grandfather who worshipped another god.
Exodus 32:2-6 “ Aaron answered them, “Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me.” So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron. He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, “These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.
When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced, “Tomorrow there will be a festival to the Lord.” 6 So the next day the people rose early and sacrificed burnt offerings and presented fellowship offerings. Afterward they sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.”
“Who are you a descendant of, what are the problems you have because of your descent…? Pastor Nellie says.
She says we need to disconnect from the curses coming through our bloodline which manifest as barriers to a victorious Christian walk.
Pastor Nellie, says the curse comes from a sin “so terrible that even the children and those not yet born are guilty.”
Its is the sin of idolatry:
Deuteronomy18:10 “Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord; because of these same detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you.” (NIV).
Miserable on earth
God tells us never to do these things and as such if our ancestors worshipped other gods future generations are affected.
Deuteronomy 5:8-10 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.”(NKJV).
In families where other gods were worshipped – there will be early death, barrenness and miscarriages.
“When I see a young person who has been hit by a car on the road and has died, I wonder who killed him, it is not the driver-it is the person who worshipped another god in their bloodline and brought the curse of early death in their lives,” pastor Nellie explains.
We could be experiencing a constant struggle in our lives like poverty, family feuds and break-ups, sickness, unemployment because it in the bloodline- curses from the fourth generation and it will touch us whether we are Christians or not!
Ezekiel 21:1-4. The word of the Lord came to me “Son of man, set your face against Jerusalem and preach against the sanctuary. Prophesy against the land of Israel, and say to her: ‘This is what the Lord says: I am against you. I will draw my sword from its sheath and cut off from you both the righteous and the wicked. Because I am going to cut off the righteous and the wicked, my sword will be unsheathed against everyone from south to north.
A curse will not send you to hell but it will make you miserable on earth before you go to heaven.
