MANY believers get flustered, frustrated, and discouraged when they encounter persecution in their Christian walk. They give their lives to Christ expecting life to be calm, peaceful, and easy.
The reality is different. The life of a believer is peaceful, but it is not always easy. Why? Because when you follow Jesus, you begin to dance to a different tune than the world. Your passions change, your pursuits shift, your speech and values transform—and the world’s systems begin to oppose you.
Your thirst for righteousness makes others uncomfortable. Ironically, it is often non-believers who hold you to the standards of your faith:
“How can you do that? I thought you said you are a believer!”
The Bible has never promised an easy life to those who follow God’s principles. In 2 Timothy 3:12, we read:
“In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.”
Jesus Himself was persecuted for His values, and He warned His followers:
“Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also.” – John 15:20
Believers should expect persecution. Those who assume the Christian life will be easy are often the most discouraged when trials arise. Before His crucifixion, Jesus told His disciples:
“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33
Take heart—our Lord has already won the ultimate battle. The Christian life is not passive; it is spiritual warfare. Those who have walked with Christ for some time will attest: we are soldiers under Jesus Christ, with an active enemy—Satan—plotting daily attacks.
Possessing What Christ Has Already Given
Consider the Israelites in Egypt. God promised them through Moses a land flowing with milk and honey. Yet when they reached Canaan, God reminded them:
“See, the Lord your God has given you the land. Go up and take possession of it… Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” – Deuteronomy 1:21
The land was given, but they still had to fight to possess it. Similarly, many believers struggle to understand that while Jesus has given us victory, healing, and provision, we must fight the good fight of faith to experience it fully.
-
Healing: Christ bore our sicknesses (1 Peter 2:24), but we must declare and believe that healing manifests in our lives.
-
Provision: God has made us rich in Christ (2 Corinthians 8:9); faith releases this into our reality.
-
Righteousness: We are righteous through Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21); our declarations align with this truth.
The Apostle Paul reminds us:
“In all things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.” – Romans 8:37
Believers are more than conquerors, not by their own strength, but through Christ.
Live Alert, Expect Persecution, and Stand in Victory
The Christian life is not about avoiding trials; it’s about walking faithfully in the midst of them. Persecution is a signal that you are living differently from the world, aligned with God’s purposes.
Expect resistance, stand firm, fight the good fight of faith, and declare God’s promises. As you do, the victory of Christ manifests in your life, bringing peace, fruitfulness, and divine authority.
Remember, the enemy may oppose you, but Christ has already won the war. Stand courageous, believe boldly, and walk in victory
