SATAN and his demons take advantage of what we go through in life to launch spiritual attacks especially if it broke our walls of protection.
According to Ecclesiastes 10:8 Whoever digs a pit may fall into it; whoever breaks through a wall may be bitten by a snake.
When the snake, the old serpent or Satan bites and deposits his evil spirits in our lives, it is because he has found a hole in the wall, a breach in the hedge of protection- something in our lives, through our own making or even not, that gives him a legal access to attack us.

It is important to know how to identify these spiritual attacks and to break free.
1 Peter 5:8 says, Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
The enemy can only launch his spiritual attacks when the wall of protection is breached. We are told he prowls around looking for whom he can devour.
It is then of great interest to know what breaks the wall as well as how to guard it against Satan, so that we can become “un-devourable!”
Things that break our spiritual walls
Sin is one of the things that can cause the wall to break and allow Satan to easily launch his spiritual attacks against us. When we sin, we give Satan a legal right to attack us.
Until sin is confessed, renounced and the demons Satan sent in are kicked out, an undesirable habit continues, with the evil one seeking to preserve his evil dominance over that area at all costs.
To ward off spiritual attacks, we must constantly confess our sins before the Lord, purposely and actively walk in obedience and submission to deny Satan a legal ground or right to attack.

Satan uses trauma to launch spiritual attacks.
Unhealed childhood wounds are often a doorway for Satan to launch spiritual attacks against someone. Something we went through in life that caused fear, insecurity, rejection, abandonment can be a root of bitterness anger, resentment or hatred which are evil spirits.
Trauma is divided into two major categories- a lack of good things or the presence of bad things in an individuals life that remain unresolved.
It breaks our walls and opens door ways for Satan to throw in tormenting spirits.
Spiritual attacks through inheritance
Some people are born with walls that are already broken while many others walk around without knowing that their walls are broken.
They continue to suffer cycles of spiritual attacks in silence as the devil oppresses and defeats them in a given area.
Generational inheritance is a major wall breaker. Just as we inherit physical qualities from our ancestors, so do we the spiritual.

Doors of spiritual attacks can be opened in our lives through the bloodline. These are controversial things we get from our family backgrounds known as generational curses.

We may have inherited broken walls from our genealogy that if not dealt with, continue in cyclic family patterns of attacks and defeat through the generations.
If our ancestors worshipped other gods then there are curses, covenants, altars and hosts of evil spirits to deal with by coming to the knowledge of Christ, as Lord and Savior and going through deliverance so we may walk in true victory.
Exodus 34:7. Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children unto the third and to the fourth generation.
Lack of self control opens doors to spiritual attacks
Lack of self-control is sin and also opens doors to the enemy.
When we lack self-control in a given area, say, sex, greed, lying, addictions, anger and so on, we give the enemy a chance to launch vicious spiritual attacks against us.
If we be sincere with ourselves, we will reckon that there are areas which are still “work in progress” in our lives in terms of self-control.
The devil uses the area in which you lack self-control to build a stronghold by assigning a dominant spirit that will let in other spirits as they fortify their destructive stay.
Proverbs 25:28 says : Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.
Lack of self-control can opens you up to vicious spiritual attacks.
Ask the Holy spirit to reveal to you an area which you need to work on as you prayerfully ask and allow the fruit of self-control to manifest more powerfully.

Galatians 5:22,23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
When we lack self-control in an area, we may find our selves doing things to cope or escape ( from the harsh reality the circumstance presents).
Later, we find ourselves caught up in these habits of escape, giving Satan high ground to launch an attack and build and fortify a stronghold.
Identifying spiritual attacks
To identify a spiritual attack, we will either need discernment or the physical observation of the destruction and manifestation of the demon behind the particular attack.
This is what we can physically see the evil spirit doing in the life of an individual or in a given territory.
To overcome spiritual attacks, it is important to identify the doorway a demonic spirit used to enter as this makes it easier to command it to leave.
Spiritual discernment is a gift we may not all have as members of the body of Christ but, when we as believers, pray for revelation and keenly begin to observe the dirty handiwork of an evil spirit, it is soon exposed.

It is equally important to differentiate spiritual attacks from physical ones. Spiritual mapping is critical in this initial stage of identifying the nature of a spiritual attack.
As you look back into your life from ages zero to five, the pre-school stage, childhood, teenage and adolescent experiences upto adulthood are there things that may have caused trauma?
Was there an accident, defilement, rape, divorce, domestic violence, rejection by parents or a loved one?
You want to take as much time as possible to unearth this background upto present. What about personal involvement with idolatry or being taken to a medium, wearing charms and amulets?

A second way of identifying spiritual attacks is to take note of sudden changes in an individuals life( for the worse).
Sudden change in fortunes, class grades, performance in career- a once blossoming and thriving business or ministry suddenly taking a nose dive is an outright spiritual attack.
It could be a sudden change in one’s health- an onset of chronic illness that refuses to go? This is, in most cases, an indication of an evil attack through witchcraft.
A sudden an unexplained behaviour in a spouse leading to separation and divorce is often the result of a vicious witchcraft attack.

Even, the sudden degradation of morals, onset of anarchy and lawlessness in a family, community or a nation are spiritual attacks from the pits of hell.
Sudden shifts or unexplainable changes in an individuals life for the worse is a giveaway of a broken wall and the inhabitation of destructive demons launching attacks.
Spiritual attacks in feelings and bad dreams
A third way of identifying a demonic attack is to look for a feeling. Demons report themselves. They betray their presence by the way they make us feel!
The golden rule is to look for the feeling, for example, anger, embarrassment, rejection, loneliness, depression, suicidal thoughts.
Demonic spirits will take on the name of the activity or manifestation that they instigate.
For a case of trauma, the demon inhabiting that area would be exactly the same as the experience.
As you pray and listen to the Holy spirit, He will reveal to you the spirits that need to be kicked out so that you may be free to walk in victory.
The enemy will use bad dreams to launch spiritual attacks while you sleep. Take note of any bad dreams that you may have regularly.
Bad dreams, nightmares, and recurring night visitations are indicative of key demon entry points, their presence and their strongholds.
When you wake up from a dream that makes you uncomfortable, cancel it in the name of Jesus Christ and declare that whatever the enemy wanted to achieve through it is nullified by blood of Jesus.
You may be probably be struggling with a stronghold, if you are generally victorious, it is not necessarily a demon.
But behind every struggle there are evil spirits and in an extreme case where malevolent spirits are involved, you may need to seek urgent help through spiritual deliverance.
