SALVATION is the greatest gift given to humanity through the finished work of Jesus Christ. It is the assurance of eternal life with God, granted to all who believe in Jesus and accept Him as their Lord and Savior.
While many believers are seeking deliverance from curses, strongholds, demonic oppression, possession and bondages, it is critical to understand that salvation transcends deliverance.
Deliverance may bring relief and victory over earthly struggles, but salvation secures eternal life.
Curses do not prevent you from entering heaven, rejecting Jesus does! Curses make your life miserable on earth.
Salvation: The Only Way to Heaven
The Bible is clear that salvation is obtained through faith in Jesus Christ. John 3:16 states, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
This passage confirms that believing in Jesus, not breaking curses or achieving deliverance, is what grants access to heaven.
Ephesians 2:8-9 reinforces this by declaring, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.”
No amount of deliverance, spiritual warfare, or breaking of generational curses can substitute for salvation. The determining factor for eternal life is faith in Christ alone.
Curses Do Not Prevent Entry to Heaven
A common misconception is that generational curses or demonic oppression can block someone from entering heaven. However, scripture does not support this belief. While curses can negatively impact a person’s earthly experience, they do not override the redemptive power of Christ’s blood.
Colossians 1:13-14 states, “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.” This means that salvation rescues us from the dominion of darkness.
Curses may persist though , even after salvation, if not properly addressed, but they do not hold authority over our eternal destiny.
Freedom from Earthly Misery
Deliverance is an important aspect of spiritual life, but it primarily deals with the quality of our existence on earth. Jesus Himself ministered deliverance, casting out demons and breaking bondages. However, every person He delivered still needed to receive Him as Lord and Savior for salvation.
Curses and demonic afflictions can hinder blessings, cause hardships, and keep people bound in cycles of oppression and defeat.
They are real and can make life miserable, but they do not determine one’s eternal destination.
Many believers live under spiritual attacks, and need deliverance, yet their salvation remains secure in Christ. The solution to these struggles is not fear, but a deepening of faith, knowledge and spiritual authority in Jesus’ name.
Hosea 4:6-My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.
Rejecting Jesus is the True Danger
What truly separates people from God for eternity is rejecting Jesus Christ. John 14:6 states, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
Matthew 10:33 also warns, “But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.” It is not a curse, a generational struggle, or a demonic stronghold that condemns a person—it is the willful rejection of Jesus as Lord.
Even the thief on the cross demonstrates this truth. He had no time for deliverance, inner healing, or breaking curses, yet Jesus assured him, “Today shalt thou be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43). His faith in Jesus, even at the last moment, secured his eternity.
Christ’s Redemption
Galatians 3:13 declares, “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.” This scripture proves that Jesus already bore every curse on the cross.
As believers, curses have no legal right to dominate our lives because they are covered by the blood of Jesus.
While believers may still battle with lingering effects of generational struggles, they must remember that their position in Christ is unshakable.
Romans 8:38-39 affirms, “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
The finished work of the Cross
Though salvation guarantees eternal security, deliverance ensures that believers walk in the fullness of what Christ has provided through His finished work on the cross.
Here are practical steps for you to experience the fullness of the power of salvation and deliverance:
- Secure Salvation First – Ensure that your faith is in Jesus alone for salvation, not in works or deliverance.
- Renounce and Resist Bondages – Use the authority of Christ-deliverance- to break free from curses and demonic influences that affect daily life (Luke 10:19-I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.).
- Live in the Word of God – Renew your mind and transforms circumstances around you by the word of God(Romans 12:2- Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect).
- Pray and Fast for Breakthrough – Some strongholds are broken through dedicated prayer and fasting (Matthew 17:21-That kind of spirit comes out only if you use prayer and fasting).
- Surround yourself with Faith-filled Community – Being in a Spirit-led church or ministry helps reinforce victory over spiritual struggles.
Salvation transcends deliverance
Salvation is the ultimate victory, and it transcends deliverance.
While curses and spiritual warfare can create hardship, they do not dictate eternity. Only faith in Jesus Christ determines whether one spends eternity with God.
Deliverance is equally important for earthly freedom, but salvation is essential for eternal life.
As believers, we should seek both salvation and deliverance, understanding that Jesus’ sacrifice has already secured our position in heaven. Our role is to walk in that victory, take dominion, enforce the fullness of the work of Jesus on the cross it in all areas of our daily lives.
Let us lead others into the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and to seek freedom from demonic oppression and curses.
