FROM March through September 2025, the BBI men’s ministry, under the leadership of Pastor Roy Agoya, has walked alongside men seeking spiritual growth, accountability and empowerment.
While the ministry main challenge is consistent attendance, it remains a vital platform for men to confront life’s struggles and embrace God’s calling for their lives.
In the past few months attendance has averaged 16–20 men per meeting, but at times, numbers have taken a dip and dwindled to 12-15. This prompts reflection, are these fluctuations the work of the enemy seeking to disrupt fellowship or simply the natural human tendency, especially men, to remain silent even when help is needed?

Proverbs 27:17 reminds us, “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” At BBI men’s ministry we believe fellowship is the context where we are strengthened, encouraged and equipped to walk and fulfil God’s purpose.
Throughout the months, key topics have been explored to strengthen men in every area of life. The ministry explored several transformative topics that included;
- Breaking inner vows- Many men carry unspoken commitments or self-imposed restrictions that hinder their spiritual progress, often causing them to sin and not obey Christ fully! Jesus teaches in Matthew 5:34, “But I say to you, do not take an oath at all… let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’” . During this session men were challenged to examine inner vows, silent agreements or promises they may have made outside of God’s will and to release themselves from these spiritual hindrances. Men have been guided to identify and renounce limiting inner vows and to free themselves to fully embrace God’s plan for their lives. This session was led by pastor Agoya.
- Men in leadership -Leadership is not merely about position but about being faithful in small and large responsibilities alike. Consistency in character and faith ensures long-term impact in family, workplace, and community. This session was facilitated by BBI Chairman Rev Dan ole Shani who encouraged attendees to lead with courage, vigilance and integrity. He said according to 1 Corinthians 16:13–14 , “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love,” he said real leadership is demonstrated in everyday responsibilities, in family, work, and community, and is sustained through faithfulness and a heart aligned with God’s purpose
- Learning from Saul – The man who had it all- Brother Melvin Amulyoto led this interactive session on Saul’s story from 1 Samuel 15 that serves as a cautionary example of disobedience and pride. 1 Samuel 15:23 warns, “For rebellion is as the sin of divination, and presumption is as iniquity and idolatry.” Despite his early promise and God’s favour, Saul’s failure to obey God fully led to his downfall. Men were reminded that God’s blessing is sustained through obedience, humility and wholehearted alignment with His will—not by status and personal ambition. Disobedience and self-interest led to Saul’s downfall! God’s favour is sustained through obedience, humility and seeking God’s guidance above personal ambition.
- Sexual purity-In today’s world, men face weaponized sex the devil uses as a trap to weaken them spiritually, emotionally and morally. 1 Thessalonians 4:3–4 says, “For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honour.” Men were equipped to recognize and resist attempts to manipulate or exploit them through sexual enticement, understanding that true strength comes from self-control, accountability and honouring God in all aspects of life. Fellowship, prayer, and openness and accountability in shame free space as vital tools to overcome these challenges and in maintaining sexual purity, attendees heard. The session was led by pastor Agoya.
- Healing father wounds-Former BBI Men’s ministry leader pastor David Odhuno was our guest speaker and revealed that most men carry emotional scars from absent or broken fathers. Many men carry emotional scars from absent, broken, or difficult father figures he said. Malachi 4:6 reminds us, “He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers.” Through prayer, reflection and guided fellowship, men were encouraged to confront past hurts, and seek God’s healing. Some said they felt equipped to restore broken relationships. Pastor David said addressing these wounds breaks generational cycles of pain and equips men to lead and love with a whole and healed heart.
- The Consistent man- Pastor Charles Kiragu, Convener ACTS Movement, graced one of our BBI Men’s ministry sessions. He said consistency is a hallmark of spiritual maturity and effective leadership. 1 Corinthians 15:58 exhorts, “Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labour is not in vain.” He encouraged men to remain steadfast in their faith, committed in their responsibilities and diligent in spiritual disciplines. Consistency in doing the right thing builds character, fosters trust and ensures that the impact of a man’s life is lasting in his family, ministry, community and nation- the essence of productivity and fruitfulness according to Genesis 1:28.
- Lessons from Adullam – The Men of David-The cave of Adullam (1 Samuel 22:1–2) was where David gathered men who were distressed, in debt, or discontented. Under his leadership, these broken men were transformed into mighty warriors and loyal followers. God often builds great men out of places of brokenness and struggle. Fellowship provides the same environment today—where men who feel inadequate or weighed down by life’s pressures can find strength, vision, and transformation in Christ. As with David’s men, God is raising men of courage, loyalty and purpose from among us, from broken vessels to “vessels ready for the masters use.” The session was led by pastor Agoya.
Ministry not about perfect attendance
The BBI Men’s ministry leader emphasizes that ministry is not about perfect attendance but about transformation. “It is easy to stay silent, even when struggling,” he notes. “But true growth happens when men show up, open up and allow God’s word and the community of believers to shape their lives. I believe men are being transformed-one man, at a time,” he said.
Despite the challenge in attendance, the BBI Men’s Ministry continues to be a space where men sharpen each other, confront personal struggles and learn to lead lives of integrity.

As Hebrews 10:24–25 exhorts, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another.”
Looking ahead, the ministry remains committed to fostering a culture of openness, accountability, and spiritual growth. Men are called to step into fellowship, confront struggles with courage and embrace the fullness of God’s plan for their lives—walking as men of David, steadfast in purpose, and free from the burdens of the past.
BBI Men’s Ministry continues to stand as a beacon, urging men to rise, remain consistent, and fulfill God’s call to leadership, purity and walking in victory!
