5 things to know about being set free

DO you feel you are blocked by invisible barriers that keep you from going forward? If yes, then seek help and be prayed for so you can be set free.

Deliverance will help you live victoriously by identifying and removing the invisible barriers that hinder you from enjoying the fullness of  what Christ purchased for you on the cross.

The removal of these invisible barriers that keep many Christians of good standing is what deliverance is about!

These invisible barriers often leave Christians frustrated, confused or in total despair, wondering if it is true of what is said about Jesus’ finished work on the cross.

Deliverance is about removing these invisible barriers and be set free from every legal claim of evil spirits that torment and afflict the child of God and hinder him or her from enjoying the fullness of the cross of Christ.

God desires that we can be set free, live in freedom and fulfil our purposes in life. It is His will that we are delivered from every form of hinderance, blockage and frustration.

Jesus’ ministry was a ministry of healing, restoration and deliverance apart from preaching the gospel.

He confronted the Kingdom of darkness, healing the sick , restoring sight to the blind, raising the dead, making the lame walk and set free captives from Satan’s oppressive dungeons.

Here are five important things you need to know about being set free from Satan’s captivity through deliverance prayer.

 1.Deliverance is for the born-again

But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it unto the dogs.” Mark 7:27.

The ministry of deliverance is for Christian believers. It is not for non-believers!

Deliverance from demons is the bread of believers.

It is something God gives us and wants us to partake. He has empowered believers to join Him in deliverance by praying for release of fellow believers from entangling invisible barriers.

Isaiah 61:1-3 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion

— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.

They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.

One of the benefits of Jesus’ death on the cross for believers is deliverance from invisible barriers.

2.When demons leave, they return

Mathew 12:43-47 tells us what happens when an evil spirit is cast out. It says ,they go looking for rest in dry places but finding non, it says, “I will return to that house from where I was thrown out!”

The Bible explains that when the evil spirit comes and finds that no one is occupying the room it was forced to vacate it goes and comes back with seven others!

The house has been swept clean through deliverance but unoccupied!

How to maintain your deliverance

The Holy spirit must occupy the every area that was formerly filled with evil spirits after  a person is taken through deliverance.

Unfortunately, this is not the case with a non-believer.

If the non-believer is taken through deliverance, he is made worse. If he had one demon before deliverance, he now ends up with eight because he or she does not have the Holy Spirit.

When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.

Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.

Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.

Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation. Mathew 12:43-47

Demons will return to see if the “house” they formerly occupied is empty. The same demons that were commanded out during deliverance will come back with severe temptations and attacks.

They know the weak spot they formerly occupied as a stronghold before you were set free and will want to exploit it again if given the opportunity.

After deliverance, be prepared to know the direction returning demons will be coming from(beware of the demon or stronghold that was kicked out.

For instance, if it was pornography, the believer will not be tempted in a new area but the same old pattern of  sexual immorality that brought about the captivity in the first place).

After being set free, be ready to confront returning demons and win.

3.Deliverance is a process and not an event

After going through deliverance, you will experience change steadily until the issue is overcome. The change may as well be instantaneous.

Thera are others who get the change instantly and never look back and there are many believers who go through deliverance gradually and get complete freedom.

You can be set free in one area first before moving to the next.

It is a walk of sacrifice and obedience. It is like peeling a cabbage; sometimes one deals with the top cover, only to reveal what is on the inside.

4.You may manifest or not during deliverance

Lack of manifestation during deliverance does not mean something is not taking place. God is always doing something spectacular even when we cannot see it with our naked eyes.

He is  sovereign and there are times the manifestation of deliverance could be immediate, but other times there is a process of walking in complete obedience towards your freedom.

Just like salvation, we are set free by faith. Even when we do not see the manifestation, by faith we believe and are delivered. There have been great testimonies after deliverance even when there has been little or no manifestation atall.

5.Legal ground gives a demon authority to block  your freedom

Legal ground or right is what gives the demon a spiritual authority or right to stay and afflict you.

The legal ground opens doors and gates to attacks by more demons despite the deliverance prayer that may have taken place.

Sometimes deliverance has been hindered by a person’s own attitude, unforgiveness or unrepented sin. This means if you have been taken through deliverance and still habour unforgiveness you are not free and it gives Satan a legal ground to oppress you.

Unconfessed secret sin, the sins of  the ancestors, unbroken curses and covenants will open doors  for demonic oppression.

They give the evil spirits a legal authority to continue inhabiting a person or a place.

To deny Satan legal ground and to defeat him to be totally set free through deliverance, it is important not to open doors in the first instance.

Ephesians 4:27 warns, “and do not give the devil a foothold.” 1 Thessalonians 5:22 states, Abstain from all appearance of evil.
